Discounted School Meal September 2017
Thursday 07th September, 2017

We are pleased to confirm that the Council has agreed to continue the discounted tariff for the KS2 and full time nursery pupils (inc 30hrs free childcare) who pay for meals. A small increase will be applied to the charge to reflect the rise in increased costs associated with inflation. From September 2017 the discounted meal tariff will be £1.40. (£7.00 per week)

This is continued good news for Bolton’s primary schools in light of the government’s public sector cuts and also for Bolton families. Currently it complements the Universal Infant Free Meals for KS1 pupils and helps sustain school meals uptake with the associated health and attainment benefits. The School Meals Industry is waiting for further information on the UIFSM from government.

Please note: It is important that parents of EYFS, KS1 and KS2 pupils who are eligible for statutory free meals should continue to claim in the normal way, irrespective of receiving the universal infant free meals, to enable school to claim the relevant funding which benefits all our children.
